BenefitU is a free, Washington-based benefits planning resource for people age 14 or older who are enrolled with the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA). This includes people who are eligible for DDA but are not currently receiving paid services. BenefitU is a service of Wise and is funded by DDA.

Certified benefits planners provide individualized coaching to help people understand and manage Social Security cash benefits, Medicaid, Medicare and other public benefits. They can explain how employment, changes in income and major life events—such as marriage, divorce or the death of a parent—may affect benefits. Planners can also help people explore work incentives, address benefit overpayments or loss of benefits, and learn about ways to save money while maintaining important supports.

BenefitU also offers online information, videos, forms, calculators and other tools to help people understand how work and income may affect their benefits. Benefits planning services are provided remotely by Zoom or phone. Interpreters and disability-related accommodations are available upon request. There is no cost, and people can schedule an intake directly through the BenefitU website without a referral.
